For 25 years, EBAYC and Garfield Elementary School have worked together to make Garfield a great school for all.

Ongoing parent-led action research campaigns have propelled improvements in school culture, family engagement, student attendance, and pedestrian safety by successfully enlisting Garfield teachers and neighborhood stakeholders as allies and champions.

Today, EBAYC provides: 

• Parent Leadership Council, a 15-member body that meets twice-a-month to plan and implement action research campaigns
• Summer and after-school learning programs involving 40% of all students
• Tiered intervention for positive school attendance focused on kindergarten, first, and second grade families
• Support for Focus Five: five major parent/teacher engagements involving all Garfield teachers; 
• Life coaching and wraparound support
• Garfield Family Resource Center, which serves as distribution hub and a gathering place for parents and families
