► ABOUT EBAYC AT Manzanita Community School

EBAYC has been working with Manzanita Community School (formerly known as Manzanita Elementary School) providing after-school learning programs since 2004.

The EBAYC/Manzanita partnership significantly expanded in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chronic absenteeism and family economic crises have been on the rise, and alarmingly low academic achievement has persisted.

Today, EBAYC:

  • Facilitates the Parent Leadership Council, a 15-member body that meets twice-a-month to plan and implement action research campaigns;
  • Operates summer and after-school learning programs involving 40% of all students;
  • Implements tiered intervention strategies for positive school attendance focused on kindergarten, first, and second grade families;
  • Provides life coaching and wraparound support; and
  • Opened the Manzanita Family Resource Center, which serves as a resource distribution hub and a gathering place for parents and families
