► ABOUT EBAYC AT Manzanita Community School
EBAYC has been working with Manzanita Community School (formerly known as Manzanita Elementary School) providing after-school learning programs since 2004.
The EBAYC/Manzanita partnership significantly expanded in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chronic absenteeism and family economic crises have been on the rise, and alarmingly low academic achievement has persisted.
Today, EBAYC:
- Facilitates the Parent Leadership Council, a 15-member body that meets twice-a-month to plan and implement action research campaigns;
- Operates summer and after-school learning programs involving 40% of all students;
- Implements tiered intervention strategies for positive school attendance focused on kindergarten, first, and second grade families;
- Provides life coaching and wraparound support; and
- Opened the Manzanita Family Resource Center, which serves as a resource distribution hub and a gathering place for parents and families

of youth in the After-School Learning program indicated that they feel other students care about them

visits were received by the Manzanita Family Resource Center for food, clothing, and hygiene products
32%
of Transitional Kindergarteners, Kindergarteners, and 1st graders were enrolled in 2023-2024, down from 61.4% in 2022-2023
